Club Stalwart Passes Away

Richard Jones18 Jun 2015 - 14:56

Ex club player and stalwart Dave Dennis passes away.

Not an exponent of the " black arts " of forward play but someone you could rely on when the opposition got tough
- Dave Stevens, Ex team mate and friend

The club is sad to announce the death of Ex Seaford RFC second row and stalwart. Many of the older players will know Dave and his contribution to the club both on and off the pitch.

long term friend and team mate Dave Stevens shares some memories with us:

'Nothing funny I am afraid , Dave wasn't that sort of guy

Mr Reliable

Learned his Rugby at Seaford Head School under Denis James

Quickly established himself as automatic choice as second row

Great lineout jumper before the introduction of lifting

Powerful scrummager , just ask John Squires , Greg Flynn ,Joe Welsh ( God Bless him) or any of the other stalwarts of the front row who would they like to have providing the weight and power.

Not an exponent of the " black arts " of forward play but someone you could rely on when the opposition got tough

Had one year as Club captain

Loyal to the club throughout his long career. When he married Jen he moved from Seaford to live in Eastbourne only 500 yards from the Eastbourne Rugby Club. It never occurred to him to change clubs, he continue to play for the club he loved until he retired. Imagine it every week the game was an away game for Dave , except of course when he played against Eastbourne

Like by all who played with him and will be greatly missed

David Stevens'

The club have also been informed that Dave's funeral with take place at Eastbourne Crematorium on Tues 23 June @ 2:30pm
