Win, Lose and Draw for the Super 7's.

The Super 7’s on the road.

This Sunday the Seaford Super 7’s hit the road again and travelled to Eastbourne RFC mini festival eager to pick up where they left of last time.

This week the 7’s had a full squad of 8 players ready to show England and France a bit of wind won’t stop play.
The 7’s were drawn in Pool C along with Eastbourne 3, Haywards Heath 2 and Crawley and like the last festival the Super 7’s were the first match on and against tournament host Eastbourne 3.
Here we go again another Seaford Eastbourne derby!

Kick off and first to strike was Seaford with Riley showing why he is becoming known as the rocket blasting his way to the line. 1 – 0 Seaford. Eastbourne bounce backed straight away 1 -1.
Seaford hit Eastbourne again a break by Ollie B when he offloaded to Riley 2-1 Seaford. Another break by Ollie Tagged, pass to Ellis who shipped the ball onto Riley for his third Seaford 3-1 Eastbourne score 3-2. Half Time

The Super 7’s swap the whole team at half time.
The 7’s started the second half with some amazing dancing feet from Oliver C who confused the on rushing Defence (as well as the spectators) once tagged Oliver pass the ball to another player making their debut Charlie who speed his way to the line. Score 4-2. Eastbourne score 4-3.
Injury for Oliver as he slips and bumps his head on the boot of his own player. Riley returns to the match with immediate effect. A slippery run getting Riley his 4th of the match 5 - 3. Eastbourne score 5-4.
With not long to go another try from Riley sealed the win for Seaford 6-4 Final score, that makes it 2 from 2 against Eastbourne.

Next up was Haywards Heath 2.
Heath scored first but were made to work hard with the 7’s tagging everyone in sight before eventually running out of taggers. 1 – 0 Heath.
Seaford’s first came from the flying Finley, out pacing everyone to score his first of the match. 1 -1. Heath were next to score 2 -1.
Finley quickly tied the score when a quick pass from Emilia that sent Fin on another super sprint to score in the corner. 2 – 2.
Heath re started and thanks to the outstanding tagging from the Super 7’s the ball was turned over and Finley crossed the line for his 3rd 2 – 3 Seaford.
Not to be outdone the next score was another to the 7’s, with Riley faking to go left before stepping right to leave Heath flat footed to cross the line in the corner. 4 – 3. Just before the end of the half Seaford scored another try. Great support play from the team led to Ellis (who must have made 20 plus tags per match) getting the ball in space to break before stepping the final Heath Defender to score 3 – 5 and half time.

The second half saw Heath come back into the match scoring 3 tries to take the lead 6 – 5. Without sounding like sour grapes Heath 6th try came from a forward pass that was not picked up by the ref. This however did not deflate the Super 7’s which saw Riley breaking the line to score the teams 6th try of the match.

On another day this draw would have been a win if forward passes had been picked up but the Super 7’s and Haywards Heath showed some incredible skills.

As the third and final match against Crawley approached the wind picked up and the rain set in which seemed to send the 7’s into their shells. The normally crisp passes were not sticking and Crawley capitalised on this, scoring 4 tries from dropped balls. With the rain stopping Seaford struck back with Finley scoring in the corner, it seemed like the Super 7’s had woken up. Unfortunately, this was not the case as Crawley went on to score another 3 tries. Half Time score 7 – 1.

Second half tries from Ellis, Riley and Finley pulled the score back, but Crawley managed to cross the line 2 more times to make the final score 9 – 6.

A massive well done to the team for toughing it out in the condition. Congratulations to Emilia, Oliver C and Charlie for making their debuts today and Ollie Booth who with a nasty cough led from the front to play.

Next for the Super 7’s is a Festival at Brighton RFC on the 24th November meaning lots of time to train at the Salts on Sundays. See you there for more Rugby and FUN!

Thank you to Andy Booth and Kirsty Coe for the match info and Try Scorers.
