Volunteers awards night
Friday night Seaford RFC celebrated their volunteer’s commitment to the club. The evening started with a brief drinks interlude followed by a superb curry and side dishes made by Catherine Powell.
Awards were presented to our volunteers (as listed below), for various duties towards a well run club on the up, forging forward after the COVID pandemic stole so much experience from the youth and the club as a whole.
The evening concluded with dancing and song well after hours and well after Brett had wished to leave on his own wedding anniversary day so a big thanks to all the Powell’s (Brett, Kelly, Catherine, Sophie and Jessie) for helping us celebrate this fabulous evening.
On another note Karla Weisz, Eva Protheroe and Gareth Protheroe WOW just WOW..... what moves.....what voices....what company.... think Seaford’s got talent. Thank you to everyone that attended and sorry to those that could not, you missed a blast.

Gwen Cambridge awarded Ian Newby with the Brianna Cambridge Volunteer of the Year Award for outstanding service to Seaford RFC through most difficult times for the club, personally and all around the world covering the last 2 years. Below is Gwen’s heartfelt speech delivered to all for Ian.
Volunteers; we rely on them freely and as freebies. They are our work force and enormously important to the infrastructure of this club and over the last two years of the Pandemic no one more so than this volunteer.
In every walk of life, we come across people in positions of seniority, your boss, your GP, your local MP. They get their through hard work, experience, sometimes through bullish methods, but most because they get things done with the minimal of fuss. We rely on these people to lead us whether in the mundane or through emergencies. They can be called upon to guide us through these times come what may. These people delegate, command and turn up as necessary to ensure the jobs done. It is that simple.
Here at Seaford Rugby Club we have a leader with years of experience behind them, who is willing not only to do the things I have just listed but to get down and dirty. Who kept the clocks ticking, the yard swept, the tea urn hot, the orders ordered and anything else that needed doing.
So thank you for your time, your blood, your sweat, your sleepless nights all for the good of our small community club in a time when the chips were down.
Brianna Cambridge memorial shield for 2021 and 2022 goes to our leader Ian Newby.
If you wish to volunteer in any role please fill in a volunteer form or ask any one of us- Andy Cambridge, Gwen Cambridge or Karla Weisz how to get started.
