Another new chapter started

Seaford Ladies continued writing history on Sunday, when they went away for the first time in there 9 month history.

They travelled the short distance, (in woman's rugby terms) to Tonbridge Judians, to face a side that was known to be well drilled and including some county players. With this, minds were concentrated on improving from last weeks game at home and moving the team on to the next stage.

After, a shaky ten minute period from the start, and a soft try conceded from a well worked TJ's move. The girls found there feet and form and stepped up that on pace in defence and that half a yard required in attack and took the game to the TJ's. The game continued to be a close fought affair with very heavy ground and a damp ball not helping either side build anything threatening.

Once again, match experience showed as the TJ's managed to convert another half chance to go over and score (10 - 0). After, some constructive words from the ladies coach (Ian Newby) the picked themselves up and continued to press the TJ's 22 meter line which resulted in a Seaford try Lucy Stewart. (10 - 5)

The tight game continued through out majority of the game when in the last 15 minutes with the opposition scoring Seaford ladies went over twice in quick succession for both attempts to be disallowed by the referee. This inspired the Sirens further and with only five minutes the match remaining and camped on the TJ's try line. Captain Lucy Ditton cut a sublime line from the back the ruck to cut the defence in half and score her first try.

The game ended on a high and a with some good friends made and we look forward to seeing TJ's at Seaford very soon.
