Seaford thrash Holbrook with eleven tries to one!

Seaford I played Holbrook, coming with a strong team, including Ben Joy, who has transferred from the Colts team, and Nick Everson who was absent the majority of last season following surgery on his shoulder.

Holbrook finished third in the league last season and are earmarked as possible favourites to top the league this coming season. This was not evident from their performance on Saturday, seeing them thrashed 67 – 7. Eleven tries and six conversions later and Seaford have shown their opponents for this coming season that they are not to be taken lightly.

Seaford’s victory was an entire team effort, with no-one faltering, and thanks to the coaching efforts over the summer of Paul Burns, returning for his second season as Captain, John Crowley and Les Hunter.

The try scorers were; Dan Kristiansen (proving he is back to his former fitness after dislocating his shoulder during the last game of the season), Steve Dann (awarded most improved player last season and starting as he means to go on with two tries), Danny Newby (last seasons top scorer and now earning a hat trick in this game), Mark Tait (now fighting fit after a serious knee injury last season), Paul Burns, Piers Culshaw, Josh Sheppard and Chris Burns (two tries).

Ben Cox converted three of the tries before being forced off with an ankle injury; Dan Kristiansen kicked one, and the surprise star kicker, prop John Wilson, successfully kicked two.

Holbrook scored their only points of the game just minutes before the final whistle blew.

This has left Seaford I’s full of confidence for their first league game next week, 10th September, away to Burgess Hill, 3.00pm kick off.
