Seaford travelled to Crowborough on Saturday for round 3 of the Sussex 1 Season.

Standen, Dann, Read, A.Flynn, Diplock, Upton, Webb (MOM), Newby©, Baker, Tait, Hardwick, Hordell, Voice, Taylor.
Subs: Lewis, Brewer, Jesus.

Seaford got off to the better start with great work for the third week running coming from the Scarlet pack. Scrums were taken against the head for fun by the number 2 Steve Dann and with the back line making good use of the advantage a Seaford score wasn’t going to take long. 19 mins in after numerous chances going begging by Seaford, Paul Hardwick was awarded a penalty within striking distance, Hardwick split the uprights to make it 0-3.
Minutes later Seaford were back in the oppositions 22 but were finding it increasingly hard to get over the try line, Hardwick went for a drop goal only to have it painstakingly glance of the post.
On 25 mins Seaford were awarded a lineout on the Crowborough 22 and with salmon like agility Sam Diplock collected to give Seaford the play, Simon Hordell ran in from 25 yards breaking 3 tackles on his way, Hardwick failed to convert 0-10
1 minute from the break and it was the inform Darren Flynn who with his first game in the centres ran Seaford 5 more points in under the post leaving an easy finish for Hardwick to add the extra 3. Seaford go in 0 – 15 at the break.

The second half was a much closer affair but still saw Seaford in the driving seat, however, Crowborough found their way onto the score sheet with a penalty against the run of play. 3-15
After some great play from Seaford and some fantastic defensive work the home team were on the score sheet again. On 67mins Crowborough scored an unconverted try closing the gap to 10-15.
Seaford did incredibly well to hold on to the lead after Crowborough turn up the heat and threw everything they had at the Seaford defence, the Scarlet line stood firm and Seaford took the points.

The Crown Sports Bar man of the match shirt went to veteran and returnee Stuart Webb who constantly stole ball and put in trademark thundering tackles throughout.
Seaford play Eastbourne in their next fixture on Friday 4th under floodlight at Eastbourne, K.O 1930.
